A guardian-deity temple at Mohanur in Namakkal district, reckoned between five hundred and a thousand years old, whose deity the local ruler Mohur Pazhayan is said to have consulted before taking decisions. A naval tree and a neem tree in the precinct are themselves objects of worship, and the temple was reconsecrated in June 2018.
After the Chera king Senguttuvan worshipped here before marching north, the naval tree beside the shrine withered, and the deity came to be called Navaladian, the one of the naval tree.
