History & significance

A Hokkien assembly hall and temple in Cho Lon, raised by Fujianese immigrants in the late 19th century and centred on Quan Am, the bodhisattva of mercy. Pure Land worship of Amitabha sits alongside altars to the sea goddess Mazu and the Jade Emperor, and its statuary includes tableaux from Journey to the West.
