History & significance

A kavu on the Achankovil river at Kalleli, roughly 19 km from Pathanamthitta town, whose rites follow the usage of the early Dravida-Naga tribes rather than the tantric procedure of ordinary Kerala temples.

Appooppan is honoured as lord of the 999 Mala Daivangal, the mountain gods, with Oorali Ammoomma revered as his mother.
