One of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala, standing on the Pallikkal river at Karunagappally, a town once held by the Ay dynasty and later by Odanad and Travancore. Maha Shivaratri is its principal festival.
Shiva and Krishna are said to have passed through this forest together; Krishna was taken with the spot and settled there, and Shiva, finding him, sat down beside him and hallowed the place.
