A folk-deity temple at Melamadai in Madurai, popularly known as Pandi Kovil, still maintained by descendants of the Muthuraiyar family who founded it.
It is said that Valliammal and Periyasamy unearthed an image eight feet down near Mattuthavani after a bearded sage appeared in a dream declaring himself Pandyan Nedunchezhiyan, doing penance for the injustice done to Kovalan; the temple was raised where the image was found.
