History & significance

One of the largest Bhagavathi shrines of central Kerala and the head of the Paramekkavu side of the Thrissur Pooram, the division of the city's temples into two competing groups being the work of Sakthan Thampuran. Its devaswom also runs the Paramekkavu Vidya Mandir school.
