Also called Shree Kshetra Parshuram, this Konkan hill temple was raised in 1700 on the initiative of Swami Paramhans Brahmendra, with funding from the Siddi commander Rasul Yakut Khan. It is the principal shrine of Parashurama in the region his myth claims he created.
Tradition holds that Parashurama shot an arrow into the Arabian Sea to push it back and reclaim the Konkan, then chose the Mahendragiri peak here as his permanent home.
