The sacred geography of the Indic world — every site mapped, dated, storied, and cited.
Pennadam, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu · 11.3983°, 79.2341°
An unusual shrine dedicated not to a god but to Meykandar, the Shaiva Siddhanta philosopher, and managed by the Thiruvaduthurai Adheenam. It was renovated and reconsecrated in June 2014.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
The spot at Achuthakalappalarmedu in Pennadam is held to be the place where Meykandar was born.
