History & significance

An Ayyanar shrine on the bank of the Villuni river at Kulamangalam in Alangudi taluk, traced to the 18th century. Its terracotta horse, 37 ft high with forelegs raised, is claimed to be the largest such figure anywhere; the temple was reconsecrated in May 2010.
