പെരുവനം മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം
Cherpu, Kerala · 10.4373°, 76.2120°
A seven-acre temple near Cherpu counted among Kerala's 108 Shiva shrines, unusual in holding two lingas of different size in one sanctum, with Parvati worshipped in the same chamber and a 120-foot shrine to Madathilappan. It is the centre of the Peruvanam Pooram, at which the deities of nineteen neighbouring temples come to pay homage.
A sage named Puru is said to have done penance in this forest, so that the place came to be called Peruvanam.
