A goddess shrine in the forests of Datia district in Bundelkhand that draws very large Navratri crowds; a stampede on the approach during the 2013 festival killed 115 people and injured more than a hundred.
Local tradition holds that Samarth Ramdas, guru of Shivaji, camped here in 1666 to plan the Maratha king's escape from Agra Fort, and that Shivaji was sheltered in this jungle afterwards.
