A goddess temple near Jaunpur that takes the name Chaukiya from the raised platform on which the deity was first installed; its founding is credited to the Ahir ruler Heerchand Yadav, while some historians attribute it to the Bhars. It is among the busiest shrines of the district and has been the subject of a state tourism modernisation project.
