A Ganapatya shrine in Ganjam district built around an idol that still sits within the joined trunks of two ficus trees, counted in Odisha's Panchadevata tradition. Around 200,000 pilgrims from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh come for Ganesh Chaturthi.
The Gajapati king Purushottama Deva of Puri is said to have found the idol in the hollow of a banyan and a peepal while marching on the Kanchi kingdom, and to have consecrated it on the spot.
