History & significance

A west-facing brick Shiva temple on a stellate plan at Palari, dated to about the middle of the seventh century, roughly fifty years after the Lakshmana temple at Sirpur. Its carved stone doorway carries Brahma, Vishnu, Ganga and Yamuna, and the tower is worked with gavakshas crowned by lions.
