A Shiva temple on the north bank of the Noyyal river about 8 km from Tiruppur, counted among the Vaippu Sthalams sung by the Nayanar Sundarar. It carries inscriptions of the Cholas, Pandyas and Udayars, in which the deity is named Aludaya Pillai and Milakeesan.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Local legend tells of a farmer who cut off the ears of the temple's Nandi; a member of his family was struck mute, and when a replacement Nandi was installed the two figures returned of themselves to their original places.
