Raised by the Nar Narayan Dev Gadi on five acres after the 1824 temple was destroyed in the 2001 Gujarat earthquake, at a cost of about a billion rupees. Its throne, domes and doors are of gold and its pillars and ceilings of carved marble; the nine-day inauguration in May 2010 drew some half a million visitors.
