Built in fifteen months on land given by the devotee Joban Pagi, at Swaminarayan's own direction and under the architect Brahmanand Swami, and finished on 3 November 1824. Its nine-domed lotus plan and carved wooden pillars house the Laxminarayan Dev Gadi, the southern seat of the Swaminarayan movement; Gandhi spoke here in January 1921.
Swaminarayan is remembered as having played Holi in the eastern garden and swung on a twelve-door swing here, and as having had the Gomati lake dug, preaching the Vachanamrit on its bank.
