History & significance

A Shiva temple on the Kaveri at Semponarkoil in Mayiladuthurai district, one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams hymned in the Tevaram by Sambandar and Appar. Its goddess is Suguntha Kundalambikai, and the place also carried the older names Lakshmipuri and Indirapuri.
