A gurdwara on the Brahmaputra bank at Dhubri, established in the 17th century after Guru Tegh Bahadur travelled here from Dhaka in late 1669 and Sikhs of his retinue stayed on to maintain it. During the Dundiya rising of the early 1790s it quartered Sikh and Punjabi barkandaze militiamen, and President Giani Zail Singh visited in 1983.
Sikh lore tells of a washerwoman who hurled trees and rocks at the Guru by witchcraft and, when none of it touched him, became his devotee.
