Moothanthara (Palakkad district), Kerala · 10.7768°, 76.6386°
The only temple in Kerala where Kannagi is worshipped in full idol form, at Moothanthara in Palakkad district, with a Visalakshi Sametha Shiva shrine in the same compound served by Tamil Brahmin priests in the Tamil Shaiva rite. Tipu Sultan is recorded to have sacked and destroyed the temple during his rule at Palakkad, its sacred relics being preserved and shared out among other temples; the three-day Valiya Aarattu is the district's largest annual festival.
