History & significance

One of the eleven Thirunangur Divya Desams, with a reclining Ranganatha as its presiding deity; alone among the eleven it keeps both Rama and Krishna as festival deities.

Sthala katha — the legend

Krishna is said to have appeared here as Parthasarathy to begin Arjuna's instruction, and the temple tank is remembered as Arjuna's digging.
