A four-armed Bhadrakali shrine at Puthenpeedika, first built beside the Thiruvanikavu temple and moved to its present site at Thoniyakavu after a devaprasnam. It takes part in the Arattupuzha Pooram, and in October 2020 its administration passed from the Nair families that had held it to the Cochin Devaswom Board.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
The goddess here is held to be the sister deity of Thiruvanikavu, and to have pointed out the new site at Thoniyakavu herself.
