Described as the only temple in Kerala with Dhanwanthari as its principal deity, its east-facing image standing close to six feet and holding the vessel of amrita. The shrine belongs to the Koramboor Mana family and is run by the Sree Dhanwanthari Moorthi Seva Trust.

A Namboodiri Brahmin cursed by Shankaracharya for withholding hospitality is said to have been consoled at this spot by the voice of Dhanwanthari, and the place where he set down his umbrella is still called Kudappadom.
