Thrikkadavoor, Kollam, Kerala · 8.9203°, 76.5950°
One of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala, situated in Kollam district and administered by the Travancore Devaswom Board. It is known for its golden flagstaff and a ten-day Srattu festival held in the Malayalam month of Kumbham.
The sage Mrikandu and his wife Marudmati are said to have obtained the short-lived son Markandeya here; when Yama cast his noose it fell instead around the lingam, and Shiva overcame him and granted the boy deathlessness.
