History & significance

One of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala, set on the northern bank of the Kothayar at Kothamangalam in a complex of about four acres with two towers and a large tank. Thrikkariyoor is identified with an early capital of the Chera kings.

Sthala katha — the legend

It is held to be the last of the 108 Shiva temples installed by the sage Parasurama.
