History & significance

A Shiva temple at Ranganathapuram in the Thiruvaiyaru taluk of Thanjavur district, where the deity carries the elephant-forest names Gajaranyeswarar and Karivananathar. The Kanchi Kamakoti pontiff Chandrashekharendra Saraswati is recorded to have stayed a week here in meditation.
