A Himalayan temple in Rudraprayag district holding a two-foot silver image of Vishnu with Lakshmi, its founding ascribed to Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. A perpetual fire burns before the shrine and four kunds in the courtyard are fed by a single stream.
The site is held to be where Shiva married Parvati in the Satya Yuga with Vishnu as witness, and the fire before the temple is said to be the flame that burned at that wedding.
