A Murugan temple on the Sriperumbudur–Singaperumalkoil road in Kanchipuram district, held by hagiographical records to date from the 9th century and partly rock-cut.
Its name is explained by the legend that Murugan killed a demon called Vallan here, making the place Vallan Kottai, the fort of Vallan.
