A roughly two-acre south-facing Shiva temple with a five-tier vimana on South Mada Street in Mylapore, close to the Kapaleeswarar Temple. It is counted among the seven Sapta Sthana Shiva temples of Mylapore and holds shrines to Ganesha, Kamakshi, the seven mother goddesses, Durga, Kartikeya, Bhairava and the Navagrahas.

Shukra, blinded by a blade of darbha grass from Vamana, is said to have meditated on Shiva at this spot and recovered his sight, which is why devotees pray here for eyesight.
