One of the older Devi temples of Kerala, administered by the Travancore Devaswom Board, with subsidiary shrines to Mahadeva, Ganesha, Ayyappan, Nagaraja and Nagayakshi. Its principal festivals are the Thrikarthika Maholsavam in Vrischikam and the Thiru Utsavam in Kumbham.
A Brahmin scholar called Thampuran is said to have brought a Devi idol here, which the Naluveettil family later found while digging a pond.
