A Divya Desam near Kanchipuram believed to have been built by 13th-century Pandya kings, with later Chola and Thanjavur Nayak contributions. Rama is worshipped here as the victorious Vijayaraghava, and the temple is glorified in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham.
Rama is said to have performed the funeral rites of the eagle-king Jatayu, who fell defending Sita, at the pit (kuzhi) that names this place.
