The Shiva temple of Guhagar on the Konkan coast, kuladevata of many Chitpavan families, laid out on the panchayatana plan with the central Shiva shrine ringed by shrines to Surya, Ganesha, Ambika and Vishnu with Lakshmi; three of the shrines were renewed and the east gate restored in 2015.
The sage Vyadi is said to have installed the lingam here, and Parashurama — who had raised the Konkan from the sea and settled sixty rishis on it — asked Shiva to meet him daily at the spot, so the god took the name Vyadeshwar, lord of Vyadi.
