A temple in Bangkok's Chinatown, probably founded in the reign of Rama III, largely rebuilt in the 1930s-40s and renamed Wat Traimit Witthayaram in 1940. It enshrines the Phra Phuttha Maha Suwanna Patimakon, a solid-gold Buddha brought here in 1935 whose gold core came to light only when the plaster covering it broke during a move in 1955; the image now sits in a four-storey marble-clad mondop.
Oral history holds that the temple was founded by three Chinese friends, which is said to explain its name.
