ಅಮೃತಪುರ
Amruthapura, Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka · 13.7410°, 75.8540°
Built in 1196 during the reign of the Hoysala king Veera Ballala II by his commander Amrutheshwara Dandanayaka, this medium-sized ekakuta shrine is valued for its wide open hall and finely worked Hoysala sculpture.
The tower over the vestibule carries the Hoysala emblem of Sala fighting a lion, the mythical founding episode from which the dynasty took its name.
