The temple that gives Bapatla its name, whose foundation the article credits to the Vengi Chalukya ruler Kubja Vishnuvardhana, who took the title Paramabhagavata for it. It is a centrally protected monument of national importance and carries inscriptions in Telugu, Tamil and Sanskrit.
