History & significance

A Chandela temple of about 1100 CE in the village of Jatakari, south of the main Khajuraho group and also called the Jatakari temple, part of the Khajuraho Group of Monuments inscribed by UNESCO in 1986. Built as a sanctum without ambulatory with vestibule, mandapa and entrance porch, it is the one Khajuraho temple with no erotic sculpture, and its 2.7-metre four-armed Vishnu is among the finest images at the site.
