The oldest and most complete of the western group of temples at Khajuraho, built by the Chandela king Yashovarman around 930-950 for a Vaikuntha Vishnu image. Part of the Khajuraho Group of Monuments inscribed by UNESCO in 1986, it carries the ten avatars of Vishnu on its sanctum doorway and a rare niche portrait of the sculptor with his pupils.
