History & significance

A compact single-shrine temple of about 1250 built under Hoysala king Vira Someshwara, its sixteen-pointed star plan and tiered shikhara making it a much-cited example of mature Hoysala workmanship. It is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.
