One of the oldest and largest Subrahmanya temples in Kerala, with four gopurams, a round sanctum, a golden flag mast and a koothambalam; it was rebuilt in the twentieth century under the Travancore ruler Sree Chithira Thirunal Rama Varma after fire destroyed the earlier structure.
The four-armed image is said to have been found in the Kayamkulam lake after landlords of Eakachakra shared the same vision, and Vishnu himself is said to have appeared as a saint to consecrate it, giving the place the name Harigeethapuram, today's Haripad.
