Built around 1100 in the reign of the Hoysala king Vinayaditya, a feudatory of the Western Chalukya emperor Vikramaditya VI, this soapstone temple also carries images of Mahishamardini, Bhairava and Ganesha and an old Kannada inscription of the 1240s in its hall.
