A Digambara Jain pilgrimage centre near Maleyuru whose rock-cut and structural shrines begin with a Parshvanatha temple raised under the Western Gangas. Inscriptions across Ganga, Hoysala, Vijayanagara and Wadiyar patronage mark it as a long-lived monastic and institutional seat of Karnataka Jainism.
Local tradition holds that Mahavira himself came here and held a samavasarana assembly, and that a Mysore queen was freed of kalasarpadosha through worship at the site.
