A Vishnu temple in Gundlupet town going back to 10th-century Western Ganga rule, with patronage continuing into the Vijayanagara period. Its yali-pillared entrance, Garuda and Hanuman sculpture, and garbhagriha-navaranga-mandapa plan make it a working example of medieval South Indian temple craft.
Tradition credits the Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana with consecrating the image of Vijayanarayana here.
