A Paadal Petra Sthalam of Kumbakonam revered in the 7th-century Tevaram, rebuilt in the 16th century during the Nayak period. It is one of the twelve Shiva temples connected with the Mahamaham festival.
Rama and Lakshmana are said to have worshipped Shiva here while searching for Sita, obtaining Rudramsam to fight Ravana.
