A Murugan temple in the Soka Nasini valley about 10 km south-east of Palakkad, built in Dravidian form by Sengunthar Kaikola Mudaliyar weavers who had migrated from Kanchipuram during the Vijayanagara period to escape heavy taxation.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
The weavers are said to have heard a voice calling 'I am coming' as they returned from Avinashi, and to have found in the bushes a shining stone which they installed as their community deity Subramanya.
