A soapstone shrine completed about 1113 by the merchant Kalhana Ravuta and his wife Sahaja Devi in the reign of Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana, it is one of the earliest dated Hoysala temples and ranges four sanctums - Mahalakshmi, Kali, Shiva and Vishnu - around a shared hall inside a nine-shrine compound.
