History & significance

A soapstone trikuta temple at Bhadravati built around 1250 under the Hoysala ruler Vira Someshwara, with three sanctums and star-shaped outer walls that Adam Hardy singles out as among the finest stellate work of the dynasty. Its reliefs range across Vaishnava, Shaiva, Shakta and Vedic subjects, and it is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
