History & significance

A Hanuman temple at Nuggikeri near Dharwad whose image was consecrated by Sri Vyasatirtha, a saint of the court of Krishnadevaraya at Hampi, and which also holds shrines to Rama, Shiva, Saraswathi, Durga, Venugopala Swamy and Jagannath. The second Konkanastha Peshwa handed its management to the Nuggikeri Desai family in the eighteenth century, and three branches of that family still take yearly turns running it and organising the Ratha Mahotsav on Hanuman Jayanti.
