One of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams with Tevaram hymns by Sambandar and Tirunavukkarasar, marked by an 80-foot five-tiered east-facing rajagopuram.

Sthala katha — the legend

The sage Durvasa is said to have brought parijatha flowers from the celestial world and installed a shivalinga beneath a parijatha tree in the grove he planted here.
