History & significance

A Shiva temple at Mandsaur, ancient Dashapura, housing a rare 4.5 m eight-faced linga of about the early 6th century that names eight aspects of Shiva. Inscriptions of 404–487 CE record Gupta kings and local donors including silk weavers from Gujarat.
