History & significance

A Shiva temple in Tiruvarur district counted among the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, the shrines praised in the Tamil Saiva canon. It was sung by the Nayanar saint Tirunavukkarasar (Appar) in his Tevaram hymns.
